Kristopher Ring is a dedicated music educator, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Washington, D.C. During the day, he serves as the Director of Instrumental Music at MacFarland Middle School. Mr. Ring also works with the DC Youth Orchestra Program (DCYOP) as a Teaching Artist, and After-school Program Director.
A multi-instrumentalist whose primary instruments are trombone, piano, and guitar, Mr. Ring specializes in brass instruction and is passionate about developing strong foundational techniques, musicality, and confidence in young musicians. As a teacher, his guiding philosophy is: “Meet the students where they’re at, give them the tools to succeed, and they will lead the way.”
Through his company, Ring Music, LLC, Mr. Ring composes and arranges music for a wide range of educational and professional ensembles. His work is known for its accessibility and flexibility, supporting both developing musicians and experienced performers.
In addition to his teaching and creative work, Mr. Ring serves as the Arts Advocacy Chair for the DC Music Education Association (DCMEA), where he works to elevate the visibility and support of music education throughout the District.
Mr. Ring also performs regularly as a trombonist with the Capital Lab Band and the National Concert Band of America. When he’s not in the classroom or rehearsal hall, he enjoys exploring national parks and historic landmarks throughout the northeastern United States with his wife.
